As AP is also reported to possess antioxidant activity, so its presence in the t-butanol layer might augment the antioxidant potential of the extract. Investigations in the past have reported AP to exhibit superior antioxidant activity by in vitro DPPH assay. AP was found to show potent free radical scavenging activity upon microwave assisted extraction from A. paniculata (Vasu etal.,2010). Reports suggest that AP may be considered as a future therapeutic antioxidant and may be used in the treatment of diseases associated with mitochondrial oxidative stress (Dutta et al., 2014). Several reports have suggested the presence of flavonones and flavones in A.paniculata. .
