Conclusion
K. marxianus CCA510, a non-conventional yeast in xylitol production, was able to grow and produce the polyol in the differentmedia evaluated, showing low inhibition by the inhibitory com-pounds present in the hydrolysate. The maximum yield of xylitolobtained by this microorganism was 12.73 g L−1 using CABH-2hydrolysate and the nitrogen sources studied, in the studied concentrations, showed no significant influence on the production of xylitol by the yeast evaluated. It is concluded that the productionof xylitol from cashew apple bagasse hydrolysate using K. marxianus CCA510 is undoubtedly promising, since it does not require any supplementation with minerals or other substances.
