Some of the advantages of the use of bioethanol as fuel for vehicles are that 1) it may constitute a measure to reduce GHG emissions and therefore supports the mitigation of climate change (Nakicenovic et al., 2000; Scacchi et al., 2010); 2) bioethanol is considered a sustainable energy source (Scacchi et al.,2010) and potential candidate to substitute fossil fuels; and 3) its use may strengthen the agriculture sector in specific areas. However, uncertainties about GHG emissions from bioethanol exist.
