sir,with regard to your article on the fair trade movement, I would like to argue that we are still in the relatively early stages of this movement and it is, therefore, impossible to judge it at present. i think most people would agree that the fair trade movement is successfully making consumers more aware of how their food is produced.Equally,there is strong evidence that farmers and trades people poorer countries benefit as a result of their membership of this movement.
However,one could also argue that consumers' desire for fair trade food encourages them to buy foodstuffs that are flown in from abroad. This leads to an increase in air transport,which is bad for the environment.Also,encouraging poorer farms to produce food for money may lead to a decrease in that production of food for their own country.
