Group 3 altered their buoy for each session, which contributed to their creativity score
increases. Group 3’s initial buoy consisted of thin pieces of PVC laid out in a square with a
Frisbee in the middle that held individual golf balls. It was given a creativity score of 1.75 but
failed to hold any golf balls due to the openings in the PVC pipe, thus leading to a design
maximization score of 1.00 (Fig. 5). By session 3, group 3’s buoy design was
replaced by two sets of thick PVC zip-tied together with a Frisbee in the center,
which held 60 individual golf balls inside. This resulted in a creativity score of 2.75
and a design maximization score of 2.50 (Fig. 6).They maintained the use of the two
sets of thick PVC zip-tied together for their final two buoy designs; however, they
modified the placement of the Frisbee so that it extended below the PVC, leading to a
creativity score of 4.00 (Fig. 7). During session 4, they tried to hold bags of golf balls on
top of the Frisbee, ending with 96 golf balls and a design maximization score of 3.25.
