YOUNG RICE SCIENTISTS AT IRC2014
We encourage Young Rice Scientists (YRS) to participate in the 4th International Rice Congress in October 2014, and to submit abstracts for review as oral presentations (for which you must be the lead author), or as a poster.
Oral presentation abstracts will be selected on merit after review. If one of these has a Young Rice Scientist as the lead author, then they will receive a travel grant and free registration.
If you wish to be considered for a Young Rice Scientist award, we will ask you to indicate this status when you submit an abstract and when you register for the congress. In the review process, the YRS identity of lead authors will be hidden from the reviewers, and will not influence their decisions.
So, who is a Young Rice Scientist? Almost all rice researchers or graduate students (for MS or PhD degrees) under the age of 35 are considered to be “Young Rice Scientists.” However, those who meet the age requirement (i.e., under the age of 35) but who received their PhD degree before 1 January 2012 will not be considered in this category.
If your abstract is selected for the program, you (as a Young Rice Scientist) will be contacted to confirm your date of birth, and if you have a PhD, when it was conferred.
