The results of this study highlight the important
role of the institutional environment
in dictating the organizational behaviour of
NSOs and in determining their ability to
produce satisfying results. NSOs all together
constitute a distinct societal sector (Scott
and Meyer, 1991) representing the most
significant component of the Hellenic sport
delivery system, within which political interdependencies
and relations have developed
their own character. These organizations
have formal authority over the management
of the sport concerned, but not always direct
control of the organizational activities involved.
