One of the main aims of English education at junior high school is to develop students' practical communication skills such as listening and speaking. However, it is difficult for one teacher to instruct each student individually in class. With this consideration in mind, we developed WBT courseware for English listening, incorporating a high quantity of video and sound clips for self-practice. Through utilizing it as a part of 'Blended Learning' with pair or group activities in class, we have studied the effectiveness of the instruction with WBT. The result of the research shows that students' desire for self-expression in English was raised and their listening ability for comprehending the situation was also improved.
