2.3. Preparation of extracts
The dried powdered leaves of M. peregrina (150 g) were exhaustively extracted with 70% ethanol (400 mL) by using soxhlet extractor at 90 °C for 16 h. The polar extract was evaporated at low pressure to obtain crude ethanol extract which was then fractionated into hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol extracts by Kupchan’s partitioning method[12]. After that, each extracts were evaporated to dryness in fuming hood to obtain corresponding semi solid extracts.
