We utilize a SAR imaging technique for NDE applications founded on non-uniform spatial sampling. With this technique, SAR images may be formed when the measurements are non-uniformly obtained using a manual scanning platform. The
manual scanner is a 2D Cartesian positioning platform that can carry an imaging probe (e.g., open-ended rectangular
waveguide antenna). It records the probe position while a vector network analyzer (VNA) records the calibrated vector
(magnitude and phase) microwave reflection coefficient measured at the probe aperture. As the user manually moves
the probe in the area to be imaged, the measurements are streamed for real-time processing into images and also stored
for offline use (e.g.; post-processing).
