The distance of the forager's run during the waggle dance is proportional to thr distance of the food source--the longer the run, the farther the pollen.
In addition, the angle of the run describes the direction of source, explaining its location in relation to position of the sun. For example, if the pollen located toward the sun, the forager traces a vertical line directly up the hive wall. If the pollen is located in the opposite direction from the sun, the forager runs straight down the well. Otherwise, the angle of the pollen's location relative to the sun is reflected in the angle of the waggle run.
