proliferated more rapidly. This combination produced a total of 34.6 g FW of PLBs, an average of 19.6 g PLB FW added per subculture,130.5% more PLB FW added per subculture and relative to initial culture, a total of 2248.1 PLBs, an average of 1273 PLBs, and lowlevels of browning PLBs (3.5%) (Tables 7–9; Supplementary Tables4–7). Good quality PLB growth with the least amount of browning ofPLBs, i.e., 1.6%, was possible in the combination treatment bet ween ED-2 and 10 vvm DO (DO-2). These PLBs grew well, were greener,healthier and more vigorous than PLBs from all other combina-tions (Fig. 1E). Poorest results were exhibited by the combinationtreatment between ED-1 and DO-1 with the highest percentage ofPLB browning, as much as 77% (Fig. 1F).
