Vocabulary is an essential means of interchanging ideas and of acquiring new experiences. Man’s growth in ideas has always been accompanied by a corresponding expansion of his vocabulary" (Gray 1939, p.1). However, there is often a misunderstanding in the field of vocabulary learning, in the sense that, it is considered as a collection of isolated vocabulary lists for intentional memorization. Furthermore, a learner reads difficult classical texts with the aim of increasing his/her knowledge of vocabulary and draws a conscious attention to the learning of new words in the text. He/she reads a text with the aim of being able to translate and to memorize words. Thus, this process is very tedious and meanwhile increasing the affective filters prevents intentional vocabulary learning.
