Complementary treatments. Several complementary or alternative
treatments have been used for migraine prophylaxis, although the
evidence supporting the use of many of these agents is still unclear.
Complementary treatments that may be used include Petasites
(butterbur), MIG-99 (feverfew), magnesium, riboflavin (vitamin
B2), coenzyme-Q10, and estrogen.10,12 Specific recommendations
and evidence supporting the use of these complimentary agents is
beyond the scope of this manuscript.
