To conclude, this study found differences between the object processing strategies in perception as
compared with action in adults. Adults processed the dimensions of an object interactively in perception
and independently in action. Conversely, in children we found no clear dissociation between the
processing strategies of perception and action. Children processed the object dimensions interactively
in perception and more interactively than adults in action. These results suggest that there are developmental
differences in the processing of multidimensional objects in action but not in perception
that might be influenced by the growing expertise and fine-tuning of children’s grasping.
