My wife and I are both 39 and we underwent only 1 IVF about 1.5 months ago. In the last IVF cycle they retrieved 2 eggs (1 was immature and the other fertilized). The one that fertilized underwent 7 day review in the lab to see if it would make it to a blastocyst and then it failed. I researched online and found with one egg they usually transfer at day 3, but our current fertility clinic said that if it does not make it to a blastocyst in their culture than it will never make it to full pregnancy any way.
Now our clinic is saying that they do not want to do another IVF because the odds are stacked against us and they are pushing for egg donor. They took our case to their Board which represents all the doctors in the clinic and they agreed we should do egg donor instead.
My wife and I are not at that stage yet. Having known folks who underwent 4, 5 and even 9 IVF cycles why are we different.
Our insurance is very good.
My wife's FSH was recently checked a few weeks ago and it was a 10. My wife was preparing to undergo a 2nd IVF at this clinic and went in for baseline and also just went in to see if she ovulated to begin her Estrace medicine to prepare for her 2nd IVF when this clinic did a 360 on us due to the doctors Board Review.
My question is any immediate thoughts without having all the history? Do we not deserve a second chance considering my wife is still producing eggs of which one fertilized last month?
