The second most used practice of processing very noisy
data is application of the curve fitting method. The
application of the least-square regression with a polynomial
model is used in [2] and [6]. For exact curve fitting of speed
curve during whole acceleration, it is necessary to use
relatively high polynomial degree. The authors deal with the
right choice of maximum degree of used polynomial, but
practical realization is relatively difficult. The main problem
of using high degree polynomial lies in unwanted oscillations
at the edge of fitted interval so-called Runge’s phenomenon,
see [8]. It practically means that the torque-speed
characteristic is not usable in neighborhood of starting torque.
On the contrary, we propose to use the B-spline to fitting
measured data. The B-splines do not have above mentioned
draw-backs.
