1. Perhaps you can ask your classmates in the discussion: How can we protect indigenous cultures? Should we protect indigenous cultures? What is the value of protecting indigenous cultures? Can we learn by comparing this tribe's ancient way of life to our modern way of life?
2. Are there any socioeconomic elements: is this group or are indigenous groups part of socioeconomic analysis?
3. There are links on my LSS page which try to introduce the concepts of how geography and climate shape and create culture. Are indigenous groups good examples of how people create culture in response to climate and geography?
4. Context: how does this group fit into the African context for indigenous groups? How does this group fit into the worldwide context of indigenous groups?
5. What can be done or what is being done to help indigenous groups survive or perhaps find a niche in the modern world? There are some organizations, for example, that help indigenous people sell their products and their art and make money and share their culture and preserve their culture (I cannot find one in reference to this tribe or to Africa right now but maybe your group can ...?)6. What is the United Nations doing to support the preservation of indigenous cultures? What other NGOs or organizations do this work? Are there any efforts in Thailand to protect and preserve and share indigenous cultures?
7. The comparison with the Aka in Thailand is great. Maybe you can your classmates if they feel any connection with those people? Do your classmates consider them to be Thai? Is there a place (and what is that place?) for various ethnicities in Thailand? Has anyone visited the Hill Tribes in Northern Thailand (I did many years ago).
8. What are the negative elements of indigenous cultures? Are women treated fairly? Is education valued? Is hunting done in a way that is sustainable and respectful of animals and the environment?
