Enactments of historical events such as battles are now quite common and, although not usually staged as tourist attractions, they may have that effect.The ‘Grand Encampment’ at the Fortress of Louisbourg, Cape Breton Island,Nova Scotia attracts over 1500 participants. The Fortress is a reconstruction(North America’s largest) of an eighteenth century community and includescostumed ‘actors’ as part of the everyday scene of residents and soldiers.
