environment in the APEC region. APEC’s issuance of online security strategies appears to have
had considerable impact. Of the seventeen economies which responded to the SCFAP Chokepoints Questionnaire, fourteen economies22 noted that new online security initiatives have been undertaken since the adoption of the 2002 APEC Cybersecurity Strategy and the 2005 APEC Strategy to Ensure Trusted, Secure, and Sustainable Online Environment. These initiatives include, among others, the Cyber Security Strategy in Australia; the National Cybersecurity Framework in Brunei; the National Cyber Security Policy in Malaysia; and the National Cyber Crime Unit, National Cyber Security Centre, and National Cyber Policy Office in New Zealand.
