It would be great if we could harness the energy produced in a lightning storm. Took in a class trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago back in the 60's. They had a display of a Van De Graff generator which charged up a bank of capacitors. After the capacitors were fully charged, a switch was closed with a large light bulb that glowed with a blinding light until the capacitors fully discharged. The charge from a lightning bolt is much greater than what that small display produced but is the same principle of physic.
