We have shown variations of airborne fungal biodiversity in a
new medical mycology laboratory. Penicilliumis the most
common genus identified in rooms where no filamentous
fungi were handled, while Aspergillusis the predominant
genus in room dedicated to the culture of filamentous fungi.
We suggest that this specific fungal ecology is due to
the handling of a large number of medical strains of
A. fumigatus .
