Odoni(2009) explained that in general, the terminal creates public perceptions about the airport. And terminal is also most expensive facilities to build, operate and maintain. Nevertheless, it is very important for revenue generators for the airport from space rentals, commercial activities. The terminal buildings are classified into 2 main characteristics, those are ‘geometric ‘ layout and centralized and decentralized concept. While, the geometric layout was identified into 4 configurations; Linear, Pier/Finger, Satellite, and Transporter.
The different concept has its own advantages. As Young& Wells(2011) point out that Linear terminal concept was expanded from simple-unit terminal in a rectangular shape. The goal of this concept was to keep the short distances between vehicles curb, and aircraft parking with unit terminal. Linear concept also provides check-in counters for each individual airlines, and loading bridges were deployed at aircraft gates allowing passengers to enplane without having to be outside on the apron. So, it is improving convenience and safety for passengers.
