The storage life of our C-MAP samples was identical to that reported
by Jimenez et al. (1997) for chicken breast meat which was
also packaged in a 30% CO2/70% N2 atmosphere. The shelf-life
attained by the A-HP-MAP samples was comparable with those
reported by Chouliara et al. (2008) for the combined effect of
gamma irradiation (4 kGy) and MAP packaging (30% CO2/70% N2)
on chicken breast meat, by Proctor, Nickerson, and Licciardello
(1956) on poultry meat irradiated with 7.4 kGy and by Economou,
Pournis, Ntzimani, and Savvaidis (2009) who, for breast chicken
pieces, combined MAP (65% CO2/30% N2/5% O2) with a pre-dipping
nisineEDTA (500 IU-10 mM) treatment.
