Risk factors
ocular hypertension (ohT) is a major risk factor for developing coag, although the latter can occur with or without raised eye pressure (nIce 2009). ocular hypertension is elevated eye pressure in the absence of visual field loss or glaucomatous optic nerve damage. It is estimated that between 3 and 5 per cent of those over the age of 40 have ohT, around one million people in england (nIce 2009). This represents a major risk for the future development of coag.
