Be good children. If you are bad, you may experience a little pain.
Parents around the world are reconsidering the use of spanking after Pope Francis indicated that mild corporal punishment could be a good thing.
The Pope spoke this week about the role of fathers in families.
He said a good father is a person who forgives but is able to “correct with firmness” while not humiliating the child.
“One time, I heard a father in a meeting with married couples say ‘I sometimes have to smack my children a bit, but never in the face so as to not humiliate them’.”
“How beautiful!” the Pope remarked.
“He knows the sense of dignity! He has to punish them but does it justly and moves on.”
So kids, if you want to avoid being smacked, just be good.
