Four dextrose syrups were used in this work, one with 65.5% dextrose concentration and 7% impurities and three with 67.5% dextrose concentration having 4%, 7% and 11% impurities. Dextrose concentration is defined as mass of dextrose per unit mass of solution excluding impurities. Impurity concentration is defined as mass of impurities divided by mass of dry substances. Syrups were supplied by Syral Belgium N.V. and the purity of the syrups was measured by HPLC analysis.
