Once the mass flow is determined from the above procedure, an
adiabatic flash calculation is performed to determine the condition
of the effluent fluid at the shell-side condition. The flash calculation
is used to determine the respective volumes of the vapour and
liquid phases in the shell, as these volumes are the primary drivers
for the increase in pressure on the shell-side. In the present work,
adiabatic flash calculations are conducted using Aspen Plus® software
ver. 8.6 (2014), also based on Peng-Robinson EOS and the
composition of the process fluid
