Aging-Thermal, Electrical, Mechanical, and Environmental
The book by Dissado and Fothergill referred to above also discusses at length the matter of thermal and electrical aging, in particular that due to the mechanism of water and electrical treeing. This topic is also discussed in the Special Issue article by Orton, and the Special Issue article by Montanari deals with fundamental aspects of insulation aging, with main emphasis on polymers and other solid dielectrics. The book chapter by Wolter, Johnson, and Tanaka addresses the thermal and chemical aging that limits the life expectancy of all organic polymers.
