Activated carbons (ACs) are widely used for trapping radioactive
iodine compounds at different systems in Nuclear Plants. The ACs
prepared for the adsorption of 131ICH3 are usually prepared from coal
or coconut shells [1–4]. With respect to other biomass materials, and
despite all the research made on the production of ACs from biomass
residues, very few papers [5] on the possibility of using other
precursors have been done for this targe
