This would be especially important in the case of Mr. Bates where you have identified his questioning as a source of concern. Since this can be quite difficult to do as the place of the class moves along, you may wish to paraphrase key questions and responses. We have found that it is best ti refrain from making quick judgments or draw conclusions about the overall quality of the teaching to the lesson during the observation. An “early” judgment will tend to influence the kinds of evidence you record. Record both positive and negative aspects of the lesson, but avoid generalizations and conclusions at this time.
