2.6. Phylogenetic analysis
A phylogenetic tree was constructed by the neighbor-joining
method (Saitou and Nei, 1987) based on paired alignments of
nucleotide sequences of the 16S rRNA genes. CLUSTAL X was used
to align the 16S rRNA gene sequences of the LAB used in this study
with other corresponding organisms in the DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank
databases. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of Bacillus subtilis (acc.
no. AB501113) was used as the outgroup. Phylogenetic trees were
bootstrapped with 1000 bootstrap replications.
