Temperature does not appear to affect the respiratory activity of bulbs during storage, but, after planting, pre-cooled bulbs show significantly higher respiration and energy production than those stored at ambient temperature (about + 18 องศาเซลเซียล),[25]. The respiration is higher both in the bulb in the bulb scales and in developing shoots [26,27], probably due to the increased number of mitochondria following the cold treatment [28].
