In obtaining the above information it is important to collaborate with health, education
and agriculture authorities; community organizations; mass media; teachers; parents;
students and others to share available data sources and to avoid duplication of
assessments. Data about nutritional status and levels of malnutrition may be available
from the local health unit or from other local or regional organizations. Youth risk
behaviour surveys or other health-related assessments could provide valuable information
that can be integrated into the situation analysis. Data from existing reports and surveys
should be carefully reviewed before deciding on the necessity to undertake a new survey
of current needs (22).
