There was no significant difference in microbiological counts on selective and nonselective media (P > 0.05). Unluturk et al. (2008) processed non-pathogen icE. coli (ATCC 8739) in liquid egg yolk and liquid whole egg with UV and obtained similar results; the number of surviving microorganism on violet red bile agar and eosin methylene blue plates were not different than those enumerated on TSA plates indicating that E. coli cells were mostly inactivated by UV radiation rather than just injured.
