After students explore the impact of coefficients
between 0 and 1 and those greater than 1, ask them
to generate a conjecture about what happens and
a justification as to why. A further extension asks
students to use the visual representation on the
number line and the verbal descriptions that they
generated to explain conceptually why the solution
set for |b – Ax| > c is equal to that of |Ax – b | > c.
