A research team from the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit is conducting a clinical trial to change antibiotic prescription practice. Part of this research project is to interview health workers and patients in order to better understand antibiotic prescription and use practices in Chiang Rai. We are looking for an enthusiastic research assistant to carry out and transcribe the interviews under the supervision of Dr Marco Haenssgen.
Responsibilities of the Field Investigator
· Participate in up to two days of training and a one-day pilot interview session in Chiang Rai
· Support the testing and updating of the interview questionnaires
· Introduce the research to respondents and carry out the interview in Thai together with Dr Marco Haenssgen
· Translate and transcribe the recorded interviews within 4 weeks of the interview
· Interact with project partners and facilitators
· Participate in feedback and discussion sessions throughout the interview period
Essential requirements
· Undergraduate or graduate student
· Good written and spoken English language skills
· Good communication skills
· Positive and courteous attitude
· High attention to detail
· Ability to work in outdoor environment for 8 hours per day
· Available for field research for up to 12 days between 21 March and 02 April 2016 expected dates
Preferred characteristics
· Graduate student
· Experience in survey work or field research
· Local background from Chiang Rai
· Continuous availability from 21 March to 06 May 2016, and from 30 May to 15 July 2016
