Based on our results and those of Averós
et al. (2009) and Nijdam et al. (2005), this measure
still offers potential as a valuable one when used in
conjunction with other parameters in making a decision
on a pig’s welfare, but specific circumstances
in which it is collected may need to be controlled
for. Assessing blood glucose with information on
known feeding times, diurnal rhythms, and amount
consumed would assist with further conclusions.
