The algorithms embodied in the add-ins are quite robust and, according to the feedback we have received, extremely easy to use. In general, they reflect the procedures outlined in the text. When the user enters the data and selects a solution procedure, results are automatically computed and presented on the Excel spreadsheet. Very little instruction is necessary to input and solve complex problems. A prime advantage of the spreadsheet medium is that most people are familiar with its basic operations. In addition, data analysis can be performed in the same file that contains the model and the solution , experimentation with several different OR methods can be carried out using a common interface, and data can be easily modified for “what-if” analysis. The CD-ROM contains detailed instructions for the use of each program. The book’s website (http://www.ormm.net) provides updates to the software, animated demonstrations, teaching aids, and additional examples and exercises.
