Accelerated storage has been a widely used method to assess the shelf-life of foods, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and many other industrial products of limited durability. Since such products are especially designed to undergo minimal changes during their normal distribution and storage, accelerated storage is perhaps the only practical way to predict when such products will have to be withdrawn from the market, if not already consumed. Accelerated storage can also be helpful in predicting the shelf-life of perishable commodities, such as refrigerated dairy or meat products.
