Kingdom of Siam from 1391 to 1767 in Ayutthaya are friendly to foreign traders, including China, India, Japan, Vietnam and Persian, Spanish, Dutch and French. In the sixteenth century, King Narai the Great (1656-1688) is linked with that of King Louis XIV of France, whose ambassadors compared the city in size and wealth to Paris. The Ayutthaya was called Siam, but several sources said the locals call themselves the people of Thailand.
