found in the concerns for pesticide residues and microbial contamination with age (p < 0.05). In general, consumers' concerns have increased with the increase of age. Young people were less concerned about vegetable safety problems than the older. There were significant differences of the concerns for pesticide residues, heavy metal contamination, microbial and packaging contamina- tion with incomes (p < 0.05). The most concern was found in the relatively high income group “10,001e20,000 RMB”. No significant difference of consumers' concerns was found in different education groups. Respondents who buy vegetables frequently showed a significantly higher concern on heavy metal contamination, mi- crobial and packaging contamination than the ones who have never done vegetable purchase (p < 0.05, Table 9).
