Anaerobic digestionofrenewablefeedstockshasbeenknownasaprospectivetechnologyforthepro-
duction ofcleanenergyintheformofbiogas.Biogasisasustainableenergycarrierwhichismainly
composed ofmethane(60%)andcarbondioxide(35–40%). Amongtherawsubstances,organicmatters
obtained fromfarmanimalwastearepivotalsourcesforbiogasproduction.Inrecentyears,thenumber
of animalhusbandryhasdrasticallygrowninMalaysia.Accordingly,alargeamountofanimalwaste
including manure,bloodandrumencontentareproducedwhichprovideatremendoussourceofbiogas
generation.Thispaperpresentsbiogaspotentialfromtheorganicwasteobtainedfromthefarmanimals
and slaughterhousesinMalaysia.The findings ofthisstudyindicatedthatbiogaspotentialof4589.49
million m3 year1 could beproducedfromanimalwasteinMalaysiain2012whichcouldprovidean
electricity generationof8.27109 kWh year1.
