Lead as a toxicologically relevant element has been brought into
the environment by man in extreme amounts, despite its low geochemical
mobility and has been distributed worldwide (FAO/WHO,
2009). Plant food may be contaminated with lead through its
uptake from ambient air, water and soil (Jahed Khaniki & Zazoli,
2005).
