A benign weather pattern will return to the New York City area for the latter part of the week and this coming weekend following the recent winter storm.
Chillier air will settle into the region during the rest of the week. However, while temperatures will dip to below average for a couple of days, they will stop well short of the arctic blast from Valentine's Day weekend.
Temperatures average from a low in the upper 20s F to a high in the lower 40s during third week in February. Highs Thursday and Friday will be within a few degrees of 40.
For those with connecting flights in the Midwest on Friday, strong winds could lead to airline delays and turbulence for hubs such as Chicago and Detroit.
With the aid of respectable February sunshine and a westerly flow of Pacific air across much of the nation, temperature will climb well into the 50s both days of the weekend. It will look and feel more like mid- to late March.
