As shown in Fig.3, Layer addresses overlapping by
displaying the information on location-based elements in the
lower screen. Although the displayed elements overlap on
screen, the user can browse through relevant data by
focusing on the desired element in the middle of the screen.
However, the location of the element changes even with
slight movements, which makes focusing on any element a
challenging task; the more the number of overlapping
location-based elements, the more difficult it is to choose the
right information. Wikitude groups together overlapping
location-based elements and displays as one icon. As shown
in Fig. 4, a group icon is displayed. When such an icon is
clicked on, all of the overlapping and closely placed
elements are shown as a list. With this method, however, the
user has to click on group icons and browse through the
displayed list to find the information.
