Agonist contraction (AC)
a.Another inhibition technique is agonist contraction. This team has been used in several studies, but it can be misunderstood. As with HR-AC, the agonist refers to the muscle opposite the tight muscle; antagonist , therefore, refers to the tight muscle. During this procedure, the patient dynamically contracts (shortens) the muscle opposite the tight muscle against resistance. This causes a reciprocal inhibition of the tight muscle, and the tight muscle lengthens more easily as the extremity moves.
