This plant is a stalkless, very bushy, much branched and
spiny plant. It grows in spherical shape and its diameter
often exceeds its height. Because Van Lake basin of Eastern
Turkey usually consists of soils with high sodium chlorite
rate, this is the weed mostly growing in this region. This is so
common that, in some cases, soda weed seems like intentionally
cultivated particularly in fallow lands as in Fig. 1.
