. This was probably due to the
short time span since conversion to organic management, so that
the communities had not stabilized yet. This is in agreement with
the relatively high levels of dissolved organic carbon and nitrate as
well as the relatively high ratio of copiotrophic to oligotrophic
bacteria in the soil samples from the organically managed
greenhouse. In a stabilized organic system easily available
nutrients and copiotrophic to oligotrophic ratios are generally
lower than in a similar conventional system (Borrero et al., 2004;
van Diepeningen et al., 2006)
