Initially participants were given a definition of bullying stating the intent
to harm, the repetition over time and the power imbalance between the
involved parts. It was also emphasized that bullying could include physical,
verbal, as well as relational aggression. The questionnaire consists of a bully
and a victim section. In the victim subscale the children were initially asked
for an overall estimation of how often they had experienced being victimized
since the beginning of the school year (past 2 months). They were then
asked whether they had been exposed to different kinds of physical, verbal,
or relational bullying. Answers ranged from 1 (low characteristic/never
happened) to 5 (high characteristic/happens several times a week).
